Finding America: Mount Dana, Yosemite

Mount Dana 13053 ft (3979 m) More info Yosemite’s second highest peak.

I climbed one last peak (for now) in the Sierras, unknowingly at the time that the Washburn fire smoke would soon over take this area and a large swath south to north along the sierras.

I had been in the Mammoth Lake region for around a month and was planning in the next day or two to head north, but due to the smoke I decided to swing wide west to east towards Yellostone and the Tetons.

Fortunately, I was up and down just as the smoke came in reducing visibilitiy and air quality.

Day 2. Summit just peaking over upper ridge, just right of center.

Getting a view of the summit.

Summit panorama.

Mono Lake in the distance.

Descending, the smoke was moving in fast.
