Finding America: Stud Horse Point

There is so much in this area to explore!

About

Stud Horse Point, located near Page, Arizona but technically within Utah’s borders, offers an off-the-beaten-path viewpoint of Lake Powell and the surrounding desert landscape. Known for its surreal sandstone formations and unique hoodoos, the area is a favorite among photographers and sunset chasers. The soft, eroded rock shapes and expansive views over Glen Canyon create an otherworldly atmosphere, especially during golden hour when the rocks glow in warm hues.

Unlike the more crowded tourist spots nearby, Stud Horse Point remains relatively quiet due to its remote access. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended, as the dirt road leading in can be sandy and rutted. There are no facilities, but that adds to the sense of solitude and raw beauty. It’s a great place to spend a peaceful evening watching the light shift across the desert without the usual crowds.
